Bacen releases use cases selected for the phase 2 of Drex pilot testing

The Banco Central , in collaboration with the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), has announced the projects selected for the second phase of the pilot project of Drex, the Brazilian digital currency that promises to revolutionize the financial system. Among 42 proposals, 13 themes emerged as pioneers in the development of the future of financial transactions.

Credit collateralized in public securities

Financing of international trade operations

Optimization of the foreign exchange market

Liquidity pool for trading government securities

Transactions with Bank Credit Notes

Transactions with agribusiness assets

Transactions with assets on public networks

Car transactions

Credit transactions and decarbonization - CBIO

Debenture transactions

Real estate transactions

Two of these topics, transactions with agribusiness assets and debentures, are under the direct jurisdiction of the CVM, reaffirming the synergy between the regulatory institutions.

In the initial phase of the Drex pilot, participants tested the purchase operation of a tokenized government bond between two clients from different banks. This phase focused on implementing the essential infrastructure for creating the digital real platform.

Now, in the second phase, the pilot infrastructure is moving forward to test the implementation of financial services through smart contracts, created and managed by several platform participants.

Sixteen consortiums or companies are currently participating in the pilot: ABBC (including Banco Brasileiro de Crédito, Banco Ribeirão Preto, Banco Original, Banco ABC Brasil, Banco BS2 and Banco Seguro, ABBC, BBChain, Microsoft and BIP); ABC (Banco ABC, Hamsa, LoopiPay and Microsoft); B3 (Banco B3, B3 and B3 Digitas); Banco do Brasil; Bradesco (Bradesco, Nuclea and Setl); BTG Pactual; Banco BV; Caixa (Caixa, Elo e Microsoft); Inter (Banco Inter, Microsoft and 7Comm); Itaú Unibanco; MB (MBPay, Cerc, Sinqia, Mastercard e Banco Genial); Nubank; Santander (Santander, Santander Asset Management, F1RST and Toro CTVM); SFCoop (Ailos, Cresol, Sicoob, Sicredi and Unicred); TecBan (Basa, TecBan, Pinbank, Dinamo, Cresol, Banco Arbi, Ntokens, Clear Sale, Foxbit, CPqD, AWS and Parfin); and XP-Visa.
